Fake Tans Reviewed…. Kind Of

fake Tanning is NOT SexyOk, the title of this post may be a little deceiving if you are actually looking for reviews of certain brands of fake tans. It’s time to confess, I am completely against fake tans. I would actually go as far to say I bloody hate them – my girlfriend will confirm this as I am constantly telling her to stop getting spray tans!

I am convinced that girls (mainly) get spray tans thinking that men prefer them looking bronzed, or they just think it looks nice. But, every guy I have spoken to appears to agree with me, it looks shit. Don’t get me wrong, a nice natural tan looks good and gives the impression that you are healthy.

BUT, a fake tan ALWAYS looks fake (however expensive it is), so why bother? There is no product out there that gives you a tan that looks remotely real so please stop competing with your female friends and try natural beauty for a while. Trust me, it looks much nicer…..

Society seems to suggest that being tanned is essential to look beautiful. Complete bullshit I’m afraid to tell you. It has got to stop.

If I was important enough that people actually listened to me I would start a anti-fake tan campaign. Unfortunately, me and the three or four people that may read this article are going to be ignored.

Every night out I hear the same thing…. I have to go and get a spray tan. WHY?! Because every other girl on said night will also have one and you couldn’t possibly be the odd one out – looking all pasty in the corner. If you did have the guts to stop being a sheep and tried standing out from the – orange, biscuit smelling – crowd you would look a million dollars compared to your ‘cheap’ looking companions. Harsh…. but true.

Am I on my own here? Does anyone actually like fake tans? Is it a good thing to have to clean the bedsheets every time you have one? Do you think it turns men on to lie in bed with a biscuit (that you are not allowed to touch anyway in case you make the tan patchy!).

Men…. do you like spray tans, or any other form of fake tanning? Does it do anything for you? Please humour me, I’m intrigued to find out what your views are.

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor Review

Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor Review

Gillette – The best a Man Can Get.

The company’s slogan has never been more true after the introduction of their latest shaver, the ProGlide. I am not often blown away by a wet shaver, as most are never as good as they claim to be.

I – like so many others – have very sensitive skin, and my face hates having strips of metal (i.e. a shaver!) rubbed across it. I’ve always been a Gillette fan though, as they have always proved to perform better than anything else I have tried – see my review of the KOS Azor Razor for example.

About a month ago I was drawn in by a fancy advert, and my trust in the Gillette brand, and popped out to Boots to buy a brand new ProGlide Razor and couldn’t wait to try it….. I lead a very sheltered life evidently.

WOW….. It was damn impressive to say the least.

Usually I’ve found Gillette updates to their razors to be pretty much the same as before, but a different colour. This time though, I was almost blown away. The new blades provide an incredibly smooth shave. Here is what the company website says about their new product;

The Gillette® Fusion® ProGlide™ Power Razor is Gillette’s most advanced blade ever. Thinner, finer blades* with a low-resistance coating glide effortlessly through hair for less tug and pull, providing incredible comfort, even if you shave every day.

I have to agree – for once – with this. The blades really do effortlessly glide across the face, reaching every contour. Plus, the new precision trimmer (always one of my favourite features of previous models) is improved dramatically.

The redesigned precision trimmer now features an improved blade and anti-clogging rinse slots. Ideal for shaving in tricky places like under the nose.

Overall, very impressed with the Fusion ProGlide Power. It outperforms everything else I’ve ever tried – including previous Gillette razors. It does appear to be more expensive to buy replacement blades, but through personal experience they do appear to be lasting a lot longer than previous blades, so probably justifies the extra cost for that reason.

Let me know your thoughts and experiences with this razor below…..

Andrex Shea Butter Toilet Tissue

Andrex Shea Butter Toilet Tissue

Andrex Shea Butter

Well, it’s been a long time since I reviewed anything. My excuse is being far too busy with other projects. But, I’m back, and am making a commitment to review anything and everything I can….

This post is a perfect example of this, as I’m going to review toilet tissue! I’m not sure how I can make this post longer than a few paragraphs (how much is there to say about toilet roll?!), but I’m going ahead nonetheless.

I will never use cheap toilet tissue… Not again anyway. You know the type, supermarket economy stuff that is not much more comfortable than wiping your bum with industrial sandpaper. Ever since the day I decided to give it a go (after all – how different can toilet tissue really be?) I have been in search for the world’s most ‘comfortable’ bog roll.

I think I’ve found it….

Tesco arrived with my monthly shopping yesterday – which was nice of them – and my order included Andrex Shea Butter toilet tissues (9 rolls of, if you’re interested). Andrex promise the ‘feel of luxury’ so I couldn’t wait to try it.

Unfortunately, nature made me wait almost 24 hours before I got to use it for the first time. Well let me tell you, it was worth the wait. My bum feels moisturised, and cleaned to perfection.

If you care about your bum, invest in this. Take my word for it, you will not regret it. It’s not just the soft feel either, it also has a slight scent to it that increases it’s value.

Have a look at the Andrex Shea Butter website for more information. You’ll find it’s available in all good supermarkets. Please do let me know how you get on – not too graphically though.

Reviewed: The King of Shaves Azor Razor

Reviewed: The King of Shaves Azor Razor

King of Shaves AzorI hate shaving. It’s not that I don’t like looking well groomed; it’s just the effort involved. My job involves me getting up at 4am in the morning on certain occasions – and, trust me when I say this, it is not easy to shave comfortably at that time of day. The skin simply isn’t ready for such rough treatment.

Of course, I try my hardest. I have sensitive skin, and therefore I buy face products and shaving gel formulated for such skin. Following advice, I also leave it as late as possible before scraping the stubble; always after a shower allowing the steam to work its supposed wonders. Unfortunately though, it still hurts!

I’m a huge fan of the King of Shaves product range. The face washes, scrubs, and moisturisers are all amazing and receive a huge Life Reviewed stamp of approval. When it comes to shavers though, I’ve always been a Gillette fan. So, when KOS announced the release of the Azor Razor I was sceptical that it could beat my trusted Gillette Fusion Power.

Never judge anything until you have tried it – right?

Having run out of blades for my Gillette, I decided to ‘bite the bullet’ and try out the Azor. After all, it’s under £5 in Boots at the moment.

So, finally we get to the point. Is the Azor the next big thing in shaving?

I don’t think so. I’m going to be honest with you, I was quite disappointed. Admittedly I have only used it 5-6 times now, but every time I have I’ve ended up with blood coming from various parts of my face – something I never got from my trusted Gillette.

As careful as I tried to be, I still got the same result. Its other major flaw seems to be precision. For sideburns it is impossible to judge where the shaver is going to start shaving from – making precision almost impossible. The blades seem to be quite a distance from the ‘top’ of the razor, making it difficult to shave under the nose. If only it was possible to move the nose out of the way during shaving, then this would not be a problem.

Now, I will be continuing to use the Azor for the time being. After all, I’ve got new blades to use up, and I keep thinking maybe I’ve jumped the gun a bit. Having used Gillette for so many years, is it possible I just need to adjust the way I use the razor?

I’m not sure it is going to compete with the Fusion Power in its current state. To be fair though, it is not a bad first shaver from the KOS brand. Future improvements could see the Azor taking over as ‘the best a man can get’!

King of Shaves is still my chosen supplier of all facial products, and is head and shoulders above Gillette in this department. More about this in a future post…..
