It’s been a long time coming, but tomorrow evening the new series of The Apprentice starts on BBC1. The series has been delayed after the previous scheduled showing was deemed to risk Lord Sugar’s impartiality during the general election. Something to do with Mr Sugar being the Government’s business Tsar or something (if anyone cares).
So, we have had to wait until now for the unmissable BBC business reality show to start. Another series full of so-called intelligent people making the most basic – and usually unbelievable – mistakes in various business tasks. The winner of the show gets hired by Lord Sugar to work within his company for a six-figure salary.
Before we get to this point, we will undoubtedly hear a lot of arguing, bitching, deceit, and finger pointing. All this mixed with the unmistakable sound of each contestant being asked to leave with the simple words…….. “you’re fired”.
Stay tuned for more news and reviews on The Apprentice 2010 to come over the next few months.
I came across Ellie Willams when she randomly added me as a friend – if that’s the correct terminology – on MySpace. As I browsed her profile, it came to light that she was an unsigned music artist who was looking for a break. As I listened to her demo tracks I was blown away by her beautiful voice, and obvious song writing talent.
Before I go much further, I must say that Ellie’s music is NOT the genre I’d normally listen to. R&B, Hip Hop, and Dance is more ‘my thing’ if I’m going to be honest. But the voice was so angelic it forced me to listen again and again, drawing me into a state of relaxation – and admiration.
Of course, I thought it necessary to tell Ellie how pleasing her music was, and we had a conversation where she revealed that she had almost got a deal with a major record label before they pulled out for some inexplicable reason, and was therefore now a member of Sellaband. I for one had never heard of this site, but was informed that it was a social network site for unsigned music artists to gain exposure, and more importantly, raise funds to produce their album. At the time, the funds required was set at $50,000.
The site works by allowing others to buy ‘parts’ or shares in any artist on the site. Each part cost $10 and contributed to the artists funds. So, I bought an undisclosed number of parts in Ellie Williams. She raised the $50,000 in just 50 days, proof of her talent if it was needed.
That was almost 2 years ago. Today, my limited edition CD’s that I am entitled to for being one of the believers dropped onto my doorstep, and I couldn’t wait to hear the final production.
I was – once again – blown away by the talent. As I’ve previously mentioned, it’s not my normal choice of music genre, but the album is beautiful in every way. All 11 tracks are stunningly produced and showcase Ellie’s naturally angelic voice perfectly.
I could go on, but I’m no expert at reviewing music. I’m sure you have noticed already! I can only recommend that you preview the album on iTunes, or visit her website at EllieWilliams.co.uk. Feel free to let me know your thoughts on the album.
Well, we now have our final 12 contestants for the X Factor finals – and whereas I’m mostly in agreement with the judges choices, I am desperate to know what Louis Walsh has seen in John and Edward (AKA John & Edward!!!) that NOBODY else has?
Answers on a postcard please – or alternatively, and probably the better option, post them in the comments section below!
Now, I’ve never been a fan of Louis Walsh. He’s not funny, and not cool. But, he has made money and had huge success with Westlife and Boyzone so guess I shouldn’t be so judgmental, right? Ok, I will…
What the hell is he doing putting through the two most cocky, arrogant, and damn right annoying people I have ever seen appear on the X Factor. I am already praying – despite the fact I am not religious in the slightest – that the idiots are booted out next week. I’m sure that deep down they are nice guys – actually, I’m not certain of that at all. What I mean, though, is that they could be out killing people or something, but they’re not.
What is even more frustrating, is that not only are they annoying, but also not very good at singing – and look ridiculous too. Or, maybe I’m just getting a little old? I’m approaching 30 now after all, so maybe I just don’t ‘get’ the youth of today anymore!!
So, this is my one man campaign to PLEASE vote them out the competition next week – presuming it’s possible of course. Feel free to join my campaign by posting below! If you need a little inspiration, here’s a video for you;
I’m sure everybody has already heard – but just in case you have been hiding under a rock for the last 2 days, the musical genius Michael Jackson has died after suffering a cardiac arrest on Thursday afternoon.
Personally I grew up listening to MJ’s music, and have so many memories. I vividly remember my mother telling me I was going to have a sister whilst listening to the Thriller album on my Sony Walkman when I was 11 years old. I remember it as if it was only yesterday.
It’s such sad news. Jackson has had a troubled life, but leaves us as a true legend. I’m confident that we will never see another star with such undeniable talent again – certainly not in my lifetime anyway.
Already we have seen sick jokes plastered around the Internet, and it upsets me that someone feels the need to personally insult somebody who has been dead less than 48hrs.
My thoughts are with the family at this time.
There are already conspiracy theories spreading – as always when a big event like this takes place. It was only a matter of time before people with nothing better to do start claiming that the death was faked due to debts, or the pressure of his planned residency at the O2 Arena (due to start next month).
These theories will not go away. There are still conspiracy theories suggesting that the US Government planned 9/11 almost 8 years after the event.
But, the fact remains. Michael Jackson – The true king of pop and the number 1 entertainer on the planet – has died. How he died is being investigated with talk of an addiction to painkillers widely reported. At one stage, his doctor was reported as missing leading to cries of foul play.
Michael Jackson’s Music Tops Charts
As is always the case when a highly regarded public figure passes away, Michael’s work is now very popular in the charts. All the online retailers are seeing huge demand for Jackson’s music.
Amazon’s top ten has been taken over by the deceased legend, and the top DVD’s also feature MJ heavily. My top pick is King of Pop, Best Of Michael Jacksonwhich is available for £8.98 and features 17 of his top hits.
For only £5.18 you can buy a full concert on DVD. Recorded in Bucharest in 1991 during the Dangerous Tour I’ve watched it hundreds of times (literally), and still love it. Highly recommended.
R.I.P Michael. Thank you for entertaining us with your undeniable talent. I can only hope that people remember you for all the good that you’ve done.
